Fisher Space Pen Co., a local, family-owned company based in Boulder City, will be honored by Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson, District G and the Board of Commissioners for fifty years of space travel and being a symbol of Made in America quality and innovation. The Fisher Space Pen AG7 ‘Astronaut” pen first flew aboard Apollo 7 in October, 1968 and has been flying on every manned space mission since. The pen is the invention of Paul C. Fisher, who spent over $1 million dollars of his own money and years of research to develop a pressurized ink cartridge that would work in zero gravity. After rigorous testing by NASA, the Fisher Space Pen was approved for flight and is now used aboard the International Space Station as well as by the Russian and Chinese space programs. The company was recently featured on ABC World News Tonight with David Muir “Made in America” segment. If you missed that, you can watch it HERE.
