We’re so lucky in our community to have the services of this local volunteer organization, Lend A Hand of Boulder City! They help our seniors or those with disabilities stay both safe and independent longer by helping them run errands, take them to medical appointments and provide respite care at home. They do this all through the work of their amazing volunteers, most of whom are your local friends and neighbors!
They reached out to us with a story of their recent work, that frankly, you all just have to hear:
After inquiring several weeks ago if if LAH volunteers could be considered in Tier One due to the nature of service, we were notified late last week that before COVID vaccinations would be opened to all by appointment on January 25, they would be available to LAH, volunteers, clients and staff on the 21st. So last weekend we called 138 clients over age 70 and all volunteers and then scheduled rides for those who needed them. Yesterday (as of January 25th) we began delivering clients to the Elaine Smith Center at scheduled appointment times, waiting 15 minutes after the shots to assure no side effects and then taking them home.
