Desert Adventures is seeking to hire a River Guide! Below is the information about the open position:

Starting Pay: $15/hour + tips
Position Type: Part Time / Full Time
Education: Outdoor Education / Natural Science degree a plus
Certifications: CPR / First Aid, WFA or WFR, Health Card, Clean Driving Record
Qualifications:
Applicants must be outgoing, enjoy educating a diverse audience, confident in a leadership role, and have a
passion for nature. In addition to knowledge of the natural history of the area, applicants must also have excellent
interpersonal skills and the ability to entertain the clients. Strong communication and public speaking skills are a
must. Guides must demonstrate solid work ethic, possess high standards, and be patient, detail-oriented, and
extremely organized. Qualified applicants must be able to make proper decisions quickly and work calmly in tense
or chaotic situations and be efficient within a team.
Must be willing to work long hours in harsh environments, be physically fit, and able to lift 50+ lbs overhead.
Guides will lead trips, assist in river launches, retrievals, shuttles, and transportation to/from Las Vegas hotels.
Experience with multi-day camping and desert travel is important. Preference will be given to those with WFR,
WEMT, ACA or BCU Rescue certifications. While guides may specialize in one area, they are expected to support
and cross-train in other disciplines. You must always act in a professional manner, and dress according to your
job function.
Two years previous guiding experience on fast moving water is highly desired. Applicants with no prior guiding
experience can gain the necessary skills by enrolling in our Guide School (additional fee). Scholarships may be
awarded to qualified applicants.
