The extraordinary daredevils are back January 17-19 at Bootleg Canyon, where riders from all over the State of Nevada will compete to win the DVO Nevada State Gravity Championship.
Information on the event can be found on the web site HERE. Early registration closes on the 14th, but Friday morning the 17th, riders can still sign up. The event is FREE to watch (for us muggles, who like our limbs and heads attached to our bodies…) and the participants range from ages as young as 6-10 years old, teens, and up through the adult ranks of various skill levels for men, women, boys and girls. Organizers also tell us, that even though this is listed as the Nevada State championship, competitors have come from up to 12 states, and emphasize this is much more like a regional competition.
Truly, if you’ve never been, it really is a sight to see. Races start Friday afternoon at 1:30 (full schedule on the web site), and run all weekend. The park address is 1027 Canyon Road, Boulder City (head toward the mountain on Yucca Ave., drive until you get to the parking lot). It’s a great way to spend a bit of time this weekend and learn more about this fantastic sport!
