What’s a 31’er? It’s the name given to the group of original dam workers who arrived in this area in 1931 to work on what is now known as Hoover Dam!
Unfortunately, most of them are no longer with us…but many of their families and the community gather at an annual reunion to continue sharing the stories of the building of Hoover Dam & Boulder City, keeping local history alive.
The 56th Annual 31’ers Reunion will take place on Saturday, October 8th, 2011…along with an Educational Outreach Showcase of the Boulder Canyon Project Art. The event will be at the Boulder Dam Hotel & Museum (1305 Arizona Street) and will begin with an open forum to meet and speak with families of the 31’ers (from 10:00 – 10:45am). Lunch in the hotel restaurant will be served from 10:45 – 11:30 and “The Founding of Boulder City”, presented by Peter Huntoon, will take place in the Museum Theater from 11:30 – 12:30. Finally, there will be a Youth Presentation on the patio from 12:30 – 1:30.
Please make your reservations before October 3rd (which will guarantee you a spot at the luncheon). The event is $20 per person and payment can be mailed to the Boulder City Museum & Historical Association at the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum (1305 Arizona St., Boulder City, NV 89005).
