Aquatic and Cultural Center Meetings to be Held This Tuesday

Aquatic Center Community Outreach Boulder City, NV

There will be a Community Outreach Meeting on Tuesday, January 16th from 6-8:00pm at the Elaine K Smith Building at 700 Wyoming Street in Boulder City.

This general meeting will be the final end cap to a series of other smaller meetings to be held earlier in the day at a different venue, as follows:

  • 11:30am – 12:30pm: Water Aerobics Focus Group
  • 3:00pm – 4:00pm: Swim Team Focus Group
  • 4:00pm – 4:30pm: Racquetball Users Focus Group
  • 4:30pm – 5:00pm: Lap Swimmers Focus Group

All Focus Group Meetings held at the BC Multi-use Building, 1204 6th Street.

The meetings are being put on by SH Architecture and its Principal Eric Roberts who are in charge of the project.

Since we didn’t know a whole lot about these meetings, we contacted him directly. He was super helpful and we learned quite a lot from him! We think you’ll want to know too…

The purpose of the meetings will be to have the community gather to discuss and have a public exchange, about what we want a potential Aquatic and Cultural Center in Boulder City to be.

As you can see from above, they are looking at the needs of specific groups who currently use the facilities, and want to have specialized input from them.

At the general meeting Tuesday eve, Eric tells us they will be able to share information on three different currently proposed locations for the Center in BC. Currently those sites are listed as:

1. ABC Park, located at 801 Adams Blvd.
2. Broadbent Park, at 1301 5th Street
3. An open parcel out on Veterans Memorial Blvd.

Eric says they will be able to share some very early preliminary information on both the costs to develop as well as operating costs for each option.

He also says that his firm will share reviews of other such pools and aquatic centers in the area, as well as their costs, and discuss trends in the industry across a variety of communities.

Lastly, Eric notes that this will only be the first of several community meetings, and they’ve also set up a web site so the community can stay informed and submit ideas and perspectives. We’ve got the link for that HERE.

Bottom line, it sounds like a pretty informative meeting, so even with short notice we’d love to see this be a good turnout!
