City Makes Grant Funds Available for Small Businesses

Small Business Grants Available Boulder City, Nevada

Back in early September, we told you HERE that the City Council had approved funding for local small businesses that is part of our award of federal funds from the CARES Act (Covid-19 Aid, Relief, and Economic Security). Any business that meets the following requirements can apply:

  • Must have a physical location in Boulder City
  • Must have an active Boulder City Business License
  • Have 20 or fewer full-time employees, as of March 15, 2020
  • Must have been in business prior to September 15th, 2019
  • Demonstrate financial hardship

Applications will be accepted beginning Thursday, October 15th until Friday, October 30th at midnight! YOU CAN APPLY ONLINE HERE.

Grant funds can be used for all types of working capital, such as rent, utilities, inventory, payroll, purchasing supplies and equipment, PPE gear, or licenses and fees. In other words – it’s very flexible!

You are NOT EXCLUDED if you have received other grant money, such as a PPP loan, although preference will be given to those who have not received said loans.

The loan amounts are based upon the number of employees, breaking down this way:

  • $5,000 for businesses with 1 – 10 full time employees
  • $10,000 for businesses with 11 – 20 full time employees

“All application information will be verified by City staff and awarded businesses will be required to sign an agreement certifying COVID-related economic distress,” said Raffi Festekjian, Boulder City Economic Development Coordinator. If businesses have questions, please contact Raffi Festekjian (Economic Development Coordinator) at 702.293.9393 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

We’re told that after the application deadline on October 30th, that the businesses who will be awarded funds will get their checks on or around November 30th.

“Most businesses could not have planned for the enormous impacts of COVID-19,” said City Manager Al Noyola. “We are hoping businesses can use this funding to recoup some of the losses they’ve faced over the past eight months.”

Bottom line – most every business in town has been affected by the pandemic, subsequent shut-downs and the new rules and regulations governing their operations. So please SPREAD THE WORD and let’s see every penny of these funds awarded to our local businesses!
