Tonight, July 27th at 5pm, Governor Sisolak announced that as of now, nothing will change in Clark County, and the bars without food service and the current status of all Coronavirus guidelines for businesses and the public will remain in place.
The Governor was overall somewhat pleased with the current 7-day trend, saying we had overcome the expected spike in cases after the 4th of July Holiday. The number of new cases on a daily basis was slowing somewhat off it’s peak, and he congratulated everyone for their hard work and diligence.
Over this next week the State will be working on some additional plans that will be announced next week to help businesses and the general public better understand what to expect in the long term.
The Governor says that they are focusing on some of the following key points and goals:
Create a long term system of mitigation levels so that way we can all see clearly see what is happening in real-time and know in advance how the state or county will respond, based upon case levels.
Working to get better data, and they are stepping up testing and contact tracing and case work to improve their ability to understand the current status of COVID-19 cases on their area. Predictability is one of the goals in terms of cases over time.
No more Phases – they initially made sense, but this will be a new long-term approach, and next week we will understand what these new steps and milestones will look like. This will be a new directive.
Increased enforcement, following the guidelines and safety rules will be stepped and a business or resorts may be closed for non-compliance. The time for education is over. Everyone should understand that limiting contact and time indoors is important. The intent is to reward businesses who have taken the guidelines seriously and to punish only those who have not.
Targeting – taking targeted approaches through zip codes, economic sectors and individual communities and problematic targeting will help protect the good actors, and focus on areas where outbreaks are occurring.
The Governor emphasizes to still stay home when possible, don’t gather in large groups, wear masks, wash our hands and stay home of course if you feel at all ill.
