We’re super excited to give you the scoop on the former Edie’s/Sher-Lo’s Flowers location, heading up the corner of Nevada Way and Arizona, at 502 Nevada Way, which has not been operational in a while, and has now been sold to new owners!

You’ll soon get to know James and Becky Hughes who are lifers in the Vegas valley and have been hankering to move out to Boulder City. As we share above…they were hanging out at Jack’s and wandered down and started seriously looking at the commercial opportunity of the Edie’s building. They called a long-time realtor friend of theirs, Martin Toumaian to have him help them evaluate the opportunity. They all liked it so much they became partners and the new owners of this wonderful corner spot!
The plan is to take the lower entrance and create a bar and grille, with the upper end of the building (it’s always had two facings as it wraps around) and make that into a walk-up deli!
James and Becky have already reached out to the city and the zoning is already agreeable for the proposed arrangement. They are hopeful that demos will begin in a month or so, but emphasize this will be a long build. The property is 90 years old and will need to be stripped to bring it up to code. However, when we spoke to James about the project, he emphasizes that they want to have it fit nicely into the surrounding historic area of downtown Boulder City.
And here’s a fun twist: James is a retired USAF Search and Rescue pilot, so in giving a nod to that past and the long-time support you know Boulder City always has for its military, the planned name for the location will be ‘Hangar 502’.
They also share there is a possibility of adding a second story, much the way Milo’s did in his remodel of that building, creating the Cellar & Inn upstairs and add some apartments to the top of this building, but that remains to be planned. They emphasize they want to give the community time to share some feedback and of course we know this process will go through many City and Committee approvals along its journey. Currently they are estimating the project to last 12 – 16 months, so it will be fun to watch this evolve and take shape. And you KNOW we’ll be bringing you the word all the way along the process!
