Here is the list of events going on down at Lake Mead this month – and as you can see – there’s a lot going on!

Ranger Program: Fishing Fun at the Lake, Oct 6

Join a Nevada Department of Wildlife ranger at the Hemenway Fishing Pier at Boulder Beach Oct. 6 from 7 – 9 a.m. NDOW will have fishing tips and limited bait and fishing gear to check out. Water shoes, hats and sunglasses are recommended. Fishing licenses are required for those 12 years and older. RSVPs are encouraged https://register-ed.com/programs/nevada/210-angler-education. Lake Mead Birthday Celebration, Oct 8

Join rangers at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 12:30 p.m., Oct. 8 for birthday cake to celebrate 54 years since the establishment of Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Rangers will share information about the diverse recreation opportunities in the park. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Chat: Wildlife of Nevada, Oct 9

Join a Nevada Department of Wildlife ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Oct. 9 and learn about the variety of wildlife living in the recreation area. The ranger will share tips about wildlife and answer questions about licenses and other regulations. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Hike: Liberty Bell Arch, Oct 12

Join a ranger for a mid-morning moderate hike on Oct. 12 to Liberty Bell Arch and a canyon rim view of the Colorado River. For more information and to make a reservation, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Hike: Las Vegas Bluffs Trail-Sounds of Nature, Oct 13

Join a ranger for a mid-morning moderate hike on Oct. 13 along the Las Vegas Bluffs Trail and enjoy the sounds and sights of wildlife while overlooking the Las Vegas Wash. For more information and to make a reservation, please call 702-293-8990.

Volunteer Event: Box Car Cleanup, Oct 13

NV Bicycle Club: SIKAD Ride, Oct 13

WON Bass Fishing Tournament – US Open Oct 15-17

Around 450 Anglers with 225 boats will be participating in the WON Bass Fishing Tournament at Callville Bay Marina Oct. 15-17. This event will be telecast through live web streaming. For more information on this permitted event, visit http://www.wonbass.com/

Ranger Chat: The Mojave Desert-A Magical Land, Oct 20

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Oct. 20 to learn about this vibrant desert home. From the desert bighorn sheep found in the rugged mountains to the smallest beavertail cactus life is abundant and thriving in what many think is a barren landscape. Volunteer Event: 33 Hole Cleanup, Oct 20

Join park rangers at 33 Hole Overlook for a litter cleanup. Registration is limited to 50 people.

BBSC Pumpkinman Triathlon, Oct 20

Around 1,100 triathletes will race though Lake Mead National Recreation Area Oct. 20 for the BBSC Pumpkinman Triathlon. The race has three distance options available: Olympic or sprint triathlon and aquabike. The swim portion of the race takes place at Boulder Beach. Then, athletes will bike along Lakeshore Road and then climb the hill into Boulder City. Visitors to Lake Mead may experience delays. During the race, the bicycle course in Lake Mead National Recreation Area is an open road. Please use caution when driving alongside cyclists. Share the road, and do not pass in no passing zones. Cyclists are reminded that they must bike in single file on the roadways. Cycling abreast is not permitted with Lake Mead National Recreation Area. UBTT Champion Fishing Tournament, Oct 26-27

Around 120 Anglers with 60 boats will be participating in the UBTT Champion Fishing Tournament at Callville Bay Marina Oct. 26-27. For more information on this permitted event, call 702-293-8931

Ranger Hike: Owl Canyon Trail-Spooky Night, Oct 27

Join a ranger for a Halloween-inspired evening hike on Oct. 27 along the Owl Canyon Trail. This moderate hike offers a view of the lake and a walk through a dramatic winding canyon. Participants may even see an owl or two. For more information and to make a reservation, call 702-293-8990.

Volunteer Clean-up: Make a Difference Day, Oct 27
