You’ll certainly hear ’em coming if you are anywhere near the route from Hoover Dam to Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery tomorrow – Sunday, May 29th….because Flags Over the Dam will be making its way through Boulder City, just as they do every Memorial Day Weekend.
Each year, the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club organizes a motorcycle ride from the Arizona side of Hoover Dam, through Boulder City and into Veteran’s Memorial Park, where a ceremony takes place to honor the fallen.
The ride is open to all for free…last year they had approximately 800 cycles and they’re looking to break 1,000 this year. After the ceremony, they’ll head to the Half Shell in Henderson for a get-together (and you’re welcome to join them for $15). If you plan on joining the ride, you just need to be on the Arizona side of Hoover Dam before 9:45am.
Kickstands go up at 10:00am and the Hoover Dam Police will escort them across the bridge, where they’ll be handed off to the Boulder City Police Department for their trip through town. So keep an eye and an ear open for them between 10am and 11am…and plan your travel through town accordingly!

UPDATE on 5/30/11:
Fan David Nulter emailed me that he just happened to in the PERFECT spot to catch the riders on video as they came around the bend of Hoover Dam on the Nevada side. He posted the video to YouTube and sent us the link to enjoy….thanks, David, you’re AWESOME!! [p.s. – I counted 370 cycles….you?]
