With the weather being so nice, we might soon see an increase in bee activity (all the way into June), so it’s VERY handy that we have a hobbyist beekeeper right here in Boulder City who is happy to collect swarms (a whole bunch of bees hanging together while looking for a new home) free of charge, as long as they are easily accessible.
Rita Bowman will come and collect swarms, then relocate them to a hive on some acreage south of Searchlight.
She is not an exterminator and will not kill bees, or get them out of eaves or other places where they have already settled and built a hive – but if they’re on the move … she’ll help them move out of your place.
Totally a resource I wish I’d had when one made an overnight stop in my apricot tree a couple years ago, that’s for sure!
Rita is on the City of Henderson’s “bee call list” and now she’s on ours, too — her number is (702) 354-3333.
She’ll also try to help with any general information calls about bees and if she can’t, she can point you in the right direction.
Check the pics of Rita doin’ her thing last year (along with one of her girls pollinating her lemon tree) and give her a holler if you need her!
Thanks, Rita – you’re awesome!
