Grand Opening on Wednesday for Rail Explorers!

Well, this has been a long time coming – but we’re so thrilled to announce that finally, this Wednesday, the new Rail Explorers attraction begins operating in Boulder City at the Sothern Nevada Railway Museum, at 601 Yucca Street.

It’s taken CEO Mary Joy Lu, Alex Catchpole and their team (as well as a few other helpers in town) to cut through all of the State red tape and are now able to announce a ribbon cutting on this new local, seasonal, business attraction!

You can get tickets now for rides from their web site HERE.

Rides are combined with the local Museum train ride schedule and take approximately 2 hours, end-to-end.

The “Southwest Ramble” rides run Wednesday-Sundays at varying times: Wed-Friday they run at 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm. Then on the weekend they’re at 9:30am, 11am, 1pm, and 2:30pm.

It’s super easy (we’ve done it ourselves!) and you have a nice 4 mile ride on the slightly downhill slope to Railroad Pass where you then disembark, have a seat for about 20 minutes at a picnic area, and then your rail bike is towed back for you while you take a seat on the train!

For those looking for a more energetic experience, we hear soon they’ll offer a ‘cross-fit with a view’ package where you get to peddle the 4 miles back that uphill slope – so stay tuned for that one…

In the meantime, a couple of FAQ’s for ya:

1. Who can ride? They say, pretty much anyone! (No dogs allowed though, sorry fur-babies) But otherwise, Mary Joy says they can accommodate babes in Bjorns, or they have child harnesses so little kids can ride too! The seats are adjustable and do have seatbelts.

2. How hard is it? It’s a super smooth ride and easy to peddle, we promise. And if you need a break, every peddle set runs independently from the others, so folks can rest if they need to. And again that downhill slope makes it a relaxing trip.

3. Tickets – Advance purchase is suggested but they can accommodate walk-ups if space is available. Costs are based upon the bike/number of riders: 2 seaters $85, Quad 4 seaters $150, and groups of 10 or more get a 10% discount. Tickets include your train ride back too!

Get answers to more of your questions, info and tickets again on their site HERE.

We look forward to seeing you out there!
