The Boulder City Library wants your input at their upcoming Community Meeting, this Wednesday, January 31st at 7:00pm at the Library Community Room.
Your local library has started to outgrow its current size based upon its needs, which we think is fantastic – since it means we’re all using it and enjoying its services!
But here really is the best part – when they built this new building, they had the foresight to plan for this contingency – which is brilliant. We’re all familiar with its main floor that contains all its existing public services and books and meeting rooms in 25,000 square feet.
But did you know that right underneath it, is a mostly empty basement with another 25,000 square feet that just needs to be finished and redesigned for our current needs? We’re thinking that was pretty smart!
And that’s where YOU come in! This is the first public meeting that will be held by the Library to get input from all of us in the community about how we want to utilize this new space.
We talked to the Boulder City Library Director, Kim Diehm about what’s possible and some ideas and suggestions they’ve received in the past that could be created now: a new fun and friendly youth area, an expanded computer lab, private work and study rooms, or expanding some of the outside space.
Really – its up to the community and what we can imagine we think we want and need most!
Currently the space has just been used as storage for a variety of organizations. Part of the space has actual flooring in it and another section doesn’t. So it really is a mostly blank slate for them to work with.
