Do you know when the first privately-owned men’s clothing in Boulder City opened? We’ll tell you below!
In October 2020, we brought you the first of four videos by the City’s Historic Preservation Committee, highlighting various examples of special historic preservation projects throughout the city. We plan to show you all four videos, produced in place of being able to do live tours. The home on 1342 Denver Street was the winner for 2020 and the first video produced and shared. We also highlighted the “The Ash Street Duplex Cottages” located behind the LADWP Building at 508 – 526 Ash Street in the second video back in January.
In the third video in the series, Tara Leon-Bertoli, Boulder City Company Store owner, describes the history of the building where her popular store and coffee shop are housed. She explains the significance of some of the architectural features inside the store, like the beautiful sitting angel likenesses that adorn one of the walls in the shop.
The property was originally constructed at 525 Avenue B in 1931 as a men’s clothing store owned by Roy Fairbanks. It remained a clothing store for Boulder City residents for more than fifty years. It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
