Did you know that you can request a home energy audit from the Public Works Department at Boulder Ctiy?
We didn’t either ….but now we’ve got the word on that for you!
To back up a bit, we can’t take the credit for all of this. One wonderful reader and local business owner Beth Walker (of Grandma Daisy’s and Trygg Huset Insurance) asked us if we knew about any such program for her own home. So that put us on the path to this inquiry…
Here are all the resources that the city has available for you:

- Should folks need it, there are also financial programs to help even out your bill during the year HERE.
- Lastly though, if you think you’ve done your part to conserve but still would like to have someone look specifically at your home and see how you might be able to improve efficiency, you can request this from Skip Spilman, the Development Services and Conservation Specialist.
He says you can make an appointment by sending an email to pwengineering@bcnv.org with your name, address, and phone number, or call in at 293-9200.
According to Skip they’ve been doing approximately one of these a week right now, and they know we’re sharing this info. He says they’ll look at how to weatherize your home, give energy advice about thermostats, ceiling fans, etc.
Scott Hansen, Acting City Manager/Public Works Director says, “We truly want to help people conserve. When I look at utility bills from this summer compared to last, the usage is dramatically higher. We will do our best to be ready for a lot more requests.”
