20 Kids…20 Grills…Game On! Applications (and rules) for the Memphis Championship Barbecue KidsQue Challenge at the Best Dam Barbecue are now available by CLICKING HERE.
The KidsQue Challenge will be held in Bicentennial Park on Saturday, May 26th from 1:00pm – 5:00pm grilling up some of the best tasting chicken this side of the Mason-Dixon line!
The KidsQue Challenge is once again being sponsored by Winder Farms and hosted by Memphis Championship Barbecue and KOMP 92.3 Radio with the grills being sponsored by EZ Grill! This year’s Celebrity Judges will be KOMP Radio’s Morning Team: Craig and Al and the Master of Ceremonies will be Barbecue Legend Mike Mills.
An extremely popular event last year, the KidsQue Challenge is for the fun and advancement of barbecuing skills for kids. We want all the kids to have a fun and safe experience, so BEGINNERS and all levels of cooking experience are encouraged to participate. Each team may have up to two kids.
There will be two distinct age groups; 6-12 and 13-17. Each team must have at least one adult (parent or guardian) present at all times. The adult is allowed to set-up, light the grill, cut the meat, and check for doneness, but may not help the child season, cook, or baste the chicken.
There is a $20 entry fee per team (limit 2 children per team) and the First Place Award is $200 for each age group. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place trophies will be awarded for both age groups. All non-placing contestants will receive a “Certificate of Participation”.
This event is limited to a maximum of 20 barbecue teams, so be sure to get your entry forms in early!
