Okay, the BEST Albertsons is in Boulder City…but they do exist outside of town – so their definition of “local products” is a little wider than mine and includes Henderson. That being said, our Albertsons started up a “Local Products” section yesterday (over on the produce aisle) so that they can help Boulder City businesses (well, and a Henderson one) promote their products in the store. Love it! This is a photo of what they’ve got stocked so far (and I’ll let you know as they add more local businesses):
Taking a closer look — they started with FRANKLY GOOD COFFEE, which are whole coffee beans that Boulder City local Glenn Frank roasts at local Farmers’ Markets. You can also order his coffee beans directly from his Facebook page….but if I were you…I’d wait until tomorrow when his Boulder City Deal goes up! Yay!
The Henderson based local business is actually called Joseph James Brewing Co. and you’ve been able to find their products in various places around Las Vegas (like Whole Foods) — but now we have it in Boulder City. So if you buy Joseph James products, now you can Shop Local at Albertsons instead of having to go over the hill.
On that note — mark your calendar for Labor Day weekend because Albertsons will be doing an in-store tasting event with Joseph James Brewing Co.. What kind of tasting? Well, “root” isn’t the only kind of beer they make at Joseph James Brewery! I believe the tasting will include their IPA, Russian Imperial, Gluten-free, Lager and Wheat. Oh, and yes — Root Beer and Cola for the kiddos.
I’m thinking of going up and hanging out at a table to sell Boulder City Deal Cards on the 3rd and spending the day drinking beer, er…I mean Root Beer.
