There’s a fun new business in town, an electric scooter and board business called ‘SeVuR‘, located at 1402-A Boulder City Parkway out near Sudz and Royal Nails – please meet owners Mei and Paul Curtis!
First things first – what’s with the name? SeVuR, (pronounced sever, as in to separate) they tell me is, “how we describe the process of leaving the transportation norms of today’s society to increase fun, reduce transportation costs, eliminate emissions, adopt minimalism, improve outdoor recreation, and ultimately BREAK FREE!”
Mei and Paul have lived in Boulder City since 2015, having had active and nomadic lives in several western states. Paul says he became an electric scooter convert several years ago after he first tried one. Already an outdoor enthusiast and bike rider, he says he was blown away at the additional functionality of an e-scooter. They are light weight, travel easy and some can even fold down for even easier carrying. Paul became obsessed with researching the industry to find the lightest and best made e-scooters, which they now carry a variety of them in the store.
Light weight, mobile e-Bikes have taken the world by storm and are common all over Europe, Asia and many communities in the US. Sometimes with mixed results, as Lime Bike and other prolific rental companies have moved into larger cities, and sometimes have become more of a nuisance than a value.
Scooters though are smaller, take up less space, and many can be easily carried or ported onto a bus, for example. Some of the new e-Scooters on the market can go up to 28 miles per hour on the road, and run for 60 hours before they need a charge.
SeVur has scooters and accessories for both kids and adults. The child size scooters can run as low as $40, with adult units priced (on their web site) $400-$500 and up, depending upon the desired purpose, features and functions.
Right now, they are only active as a seller, but are hoping to expand into rental offerings in the near future. However, interested buyers can take out an e-Scooter for a short test drive at no cost.
Hours are Thursday thru Saturday, from 10am – 7pm. But if you want to take a test drive, other times can be arranged by appointment. You can see more on their web site HERE, or call them at 702-358-2762.
