Last evening at 5pm, Governor Sisolak took to the airwaves to explain a number of things:
- In something that surprised no one, he stated that the current ‘Pause’ level of opening will be extended for another month, thru February 15th, 2021.
- He explained and provided updated and more specific information on how the Coronavirus Vaccine will roll out here in Nevada.
First, some stats. You can check these and stay in touch with the numbers locally in Clark County anytime, HERE, and we recommend checking in on this resource regularly. The State of Nevada Health Response is also helpful. We share some numbers for you below in a few graphs, taken from screen shots as of this morning.
The Governor stated that we needed to literally ‘double down’ on our pause, and that while hospitalizations and deaths are declining from what they were in early December, we are still running very high in terms of the numbers of cases, and our test to case ratio also remains high. Currently in Clark County, we’re at a 7-day rolling average of about 23%.
But…how do we get out of this mess, and what about the vaccine? The good news is that all of Boulder City’s first responders have received their first dose of the vaccine with the second one scheduled. Also, most of our nursing home/senior living centers either have already received the vaccine or are schedule to shortly. THIS IS GOOD!
But what about the rest of us? And one question that occurs to me also, is – for each of you – what are your feelings on taking the vaccine when it is made available to you? (Personally, I’m all for it. I’d roll up my sleeve tomorrow if given the opportunity). But, we were curious how others in the community felt.
SO, PLEASE TAKE A QUICK MINUTE AND PARTICIPATE IN THIS SURVEY MONKEY POLL BELOW! It’s just one, simple quick question for you Boulder City. TAKE THE SURVEY HERE and we’ll share your responses.
Last night, the Governor laid out their plans as to how they plan to roll out the vaccine in our communities, at least with broad strokes. One good piece of news we also noted, was that all of the vaccines the state has been given, they have been used for their intended population. That’s good, as we’ve heard of reports elsewhere that vaccines were not being fully utilized.
Here is a graphic released to show how they intend to vaccinate our population. We’ll hope this all goes as smoothly as possible in the coming months, so that we can begin to get our lives and businesses back to normal!
