Today at 9am, December 13th, 2018 the Boulder City Police Department was excited to swear in two new recruit Police Officers!
Meet Officers Kenny R. Calzada (pictured center) Kevin T. Barakat (pictured right) who recently graduated from the Southern Desert Regional Police Academy. Both recruits have already received over 775 hours of academic and practical training in the past 22 weeks at the Academy. Now they will complete a 16-week field training program where they will engage in on-the-job field training, assigned to a variety of existing Boulder City police officers.
“I am proud that so many men and women have decided to make a difference in their communities by becoming law enforcement officers,” said Boulder City Police Chief Tim Shea. “We should all welcome our two new Boulder City officers who will help keep our neighborhoods safe.” Filling these two positions brings the Police Department to fully-staffed.
It’s also exciting to note that both of these fine young men were previously Boulder City Police Explorers! (If you don’t know about them, you can read about that organization from our article HERE.)
Let’s all wish them well and the best of success, as they complete their training and begin to patrol the streets of Boulder City!
