This spring, we were all extremely excited to see that the Nevada State Legislature approved a spending bill, AB-84, granting the majority of the funding needed for the Nevada State Railroad Museum and Train Depot. In case you missed that, we shared this great news with you HERE.
But there is still some more work to do, and the clock is now ticking again on getting some remaining funds raised to be able to finish off this project. So, we thought we’d explain what still needs to happen.
For the Museum to receive those state funds, which happens when they sell the bonds, the project will need to be what is called, ‘shovel ready’. In other words, all architectural plans have to be finished and approved, so that once funding occurs, work can essentially begin on the museum immediately after the project is funded.
What is needed is still another $1.3 million dollars to get those design drawings completed. This is in addition to a grant for $500,000 that came from the RTC, which will fund the design of the Linear Park that is also incorporated into this project.

We know that all of our City officials and good folks at the Museum are working hard towards getting these goals accomplished!
