Slam the Dam is being held tomorrow – Saturday, October 1st and from what I can gather from their website, it’s a compilation of open water swim races at Lake Mead ranging from 1.2 miles to a full 8K in distance. Participants can enter an 8K long-distance swim, stick with the 1.2 or 2.4 mile swims, participate in the Super Slam (both the 1.2 and the 2.4) or go crazy with the 8K and 1.2 mile race (yikes).
There wasn’t an “About” page on their website (www.slamthedam.com) or much information on the home page to pass along — but it looks like the whole shabang is put on by Swim Las Vegas, an open water and triathlon specific U.S. Masters Swim Team. There was a solid about page on them…so you can read that by clicking here and I found a video of the inaugural Slam the Dam event from 2010, which is below.
I’m sure that EVERYONE will be at Art in the Park tomorrow…but if swimming is your thing or being a volunteer in a kayak — check Slam the Dam out for next year!
