Tomorrow is the 2nd Annual Small Business Saturday, which is something American Express started last year (and why you’ll see their branding on it). Being a BIG fan of the Shop Local concept — I’m passing along the info on it for ya’ll!
Small Business Saturday definitely gained a lot of momentum in this past year and it’s something to watch out for next year, because more and more businesses will surely be offering incentives to support it. This year, for example, American Express will credit $25 back on your statement if you register your card and shop at a qualifying small business. Love that. Fed Ex also got into the game by giving away $1 million dollars in gift cards in a campaign on their Facebook page (but sadly, they’re all gone now).
You can support Small Business Saturday by liking/following the Small Business Saturday social media pages and more importantly, by shopping here in Boulder City tomorrow (and as much as you can always, of course). Here are the social media links for ya:
- Website: www.smallbusinesssaturday.com
- Facebook: www.facebook.com/SmallBusinessSaturday
- Twitter feed www.twitter.com/ShopSmall.
Small businesses can promote their support of Small Business Saturday by downloading in-store signage from the website, getting eMarketing materials, create offers to be shared on Facebook and Foursquare (and Facebook was even offering $100 worth of free Facebook ads, although they’ve now all been claimed). Businesses don’t even have to accept Amex to download the marketing materials (although you do if you want them to include the $25 credit back offer).
And lastly, here’s the video ad for Small Business Saturday:
