Boulder City’s Mounted Police Unit wants YOU!
Ok, seriously though folks – we just love our local Mounted Police Unit and their Posse, and they’re asking for some funding assistance from all of us locals or businesses to give them a boost! We reached out to Officer Scott Pastore to get the scoop. He tells us that, “the Friends of the Boulder City Police Mounted Unit is a stand-alone entity that is not funded by the city or the police department. Nor does any of the sponsorship funds end up in the city’s general fund. This is the same for many of the “Friends of” groups in law enforcement (for K9 and Mounted).” The group is not yet an official 501c3 yet, but they are looking to get that done soon, and would love help from a local attorney on that process as well.
When you look at the proposed Sponsorship Package HERE, you’ll see the type of funding help they’re looking for. The funds go to helping them with hay, supplements, vaccinations and other types of medical care, as well as farrier/horse shoeing services. All of the mounted horses are officer owned, who personally care for them (much like the relationship with K-9’s) and work extra unpaid hours caring for and training their horses. The sponsorships run through a variety of contribution levels from $100 on up, so both businesses as well as private individuals can contribute. Let’s see if Boulder City can show them some support!
