Have you heard about this latest artistic fund raiser? The Boulder City History & Arts Foundation has teamed up with the Boulder City Arts Guild and created what we thought was a really fun project!
Most of you know that the Historic Water Filtration Building got a new roof earlier last fall.
That gave Tom Marvin an idea… so he reached out to Ray Turner and Susan Kaumann at the Art Guild, and together they created this innovative project.
Anyone can participate – if you wish to paint a tile you just need to get one (we’ll tell you that below) and paint it with whatever historical theme or location that inspires you, (within the general guidelines). Then turn it back in by the end of January. Later this spring, the two organizations will have a public auction to raise funds and split the proceeds between the two of them. We’ll keep you posted when that is ready to be announced!
To get a tile contact:
- Ray Turner at 702-461-6842, or email at rayturnertile@aol.com.
- Susan Kaumann at 702-293-2138.
To get started painting, Ray tells us you should first seal the tile with any basic sealant. After that, to paint your actual piece, acrylic paint is best. Susan will be happy to help you with additional tips or questions if you want it.
Good luck to everyone who does this – we can’t wait to see what Boulder City is inspired to create for a worthy cause!
