How on earth are we going to stay busy, keep our children occupied and learning, and find ways to de-stress and stay sane right now?!? We thought we’d round up a few ideas we’ve come across in the hopes of us all joining in a discussion for things to do to stay positive, productive, and still having fun while we distance ourselves from our normal activities.
Zoom
As workers all over are telecommuting, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype and more have become essential technologies. It’s important to stay connected personally though, too. You can have a group call on Zoom for up to 40 minutes at no cost. Skype, Facetime and other technology can also keep you connected to those you love. Throw a Skype party with friends and sit around chatting like you normally do, adult beverages included!
Facebook and YouTube
We found this Facebook Group in Las Vegas that looked like they had all sorts of good ideas to keep kids active and engaged. But let’s especially remember our own Boulder City talent – Science Mom and Math Dad on YouTube! We know there are lots of resources, and online classes are being worked through with all of the Clark County schools, but thought these other fun ideas worth sharing.
Virtual Tours
Museums and performance venues such as the Metropolitan Opera are offer virtual entertainment. So are our National Parks, and we found this link HERE that has a bunch of them.
Technology can’t provide all the answers. We just might (heaven forbid!) have to put down our devices and actually talk to one another! But isolating is not healthy for anyone, most especially in times of additional stress. So be sure to pick up the phone, call a friend and check in on your neighbors, and stay engaged in life. We know lots of you are already being creative and hope you’ll find some of this helpful.
