And…your final candidates are:

Running for Mayor of Boulder City:

  • Rod Woodbury – 41.80%, 1,465 votes
  • Kiernan McManus – 40.20%, 1,409 votes

Running for Two City Council Seats:

  • Peggy Leavitt – 24.97%, 1,639 votes
  • Claudia Bridges – 17.33%, 1,138 votes
  • James Howard Adams – 16.8%, 1,103 votes
  • Rich Shuman – 15.22%, 999 votes

Not moving on are Warren Harhay (who retains his existing City Council seat) with 18.00%, and Judy Dechaine with 12.46%, Tom Tyler with 7.13%, Trenton Motley with 4.62% and Brent Foutz at 1.48%. (You can see all the results your self, HERE.)

We wanted to thank all those who ran and were willing to toss their hats into the ring – it takes a lot to be willing to do that, and we appreciate all of you! Congratulations also to the winners of this round! Now comes the work ahead to the General Municipal Elections to be held on June 11, 2019.

Who else is the big winner here? Us – it seems Boulder City does turn out in higher numbers than any place in Clark County. For this primary, 33.72% of all registered Boulder City voters participated. That is compared to an overall average in Clark County of just 8.8% particpation. (Honestly, that really does seem pathetic…)

In closing, if you think your vote doesn’t count – well check those numbers – just 56 individual votes separate our existing Mayor Rod Woodbury, from his challenger Kiernan McManus. Also note, that Peggy Leavitt has the largest margin of the race, with 501 votes between her and her nearest competitor. However, it is a mere 35 votes separating the 2nd and 3rd place candidates of Claudia Bridges and James Howard Adams. Combine that with a race that didn’t seem to heavily favor the incumbents, we’re going to have an exciting couple of months ahead of us. Well done to all!
