Did you know that the power went out around 3am on Saturday, August 9th and couldn’t be restored to all residents until 1pm? Well, if you lived anywhere near Lake Mountain Road, you sure did!
And some of you even emailed me to ask if I knew what happened (which of course, warms my little heart). I actually DO have the detailed info for you, directly from the awesome Electric Utility Administrator and I’ll include that below. BUT FIRST…
Here’s something very cool for us from a communication perspective: As of today, there is a new Emergency Power Outage and Water Shut-Off Information Line that you can call when the power goes out or the water goes off and it’s a pre-recorded message with the details of what’s happening and the current status of the resolution!
(702) 293-9429…that’s the number to call to find out the scoop….right after you check the BC Social page for what the Fans have to say, that is! And thanks to our peeps in the City Clerk’s office for passing along this info to us!
Now…for more info for the folks over by Lake Mountain…it seems that (and I quote):
“On Saturday, August 9, at about 3 AM, a section of underground feeder cable failed on Lake Mountain Road. By switching to other feeders, power was restored to all residents by 1 PM.
Permanent repairs are ongoing. They are complicated by the fact that the underground electric conduit partially melted in the vicinity of the fault. So, rather than pulling the old cable out and pulling the new one in, new trenching and conduit will be required. And since digging is required anyway, we are taking the opportunity to also replace the old underground boxes along the failed conduit section.”
