A few months back we got a call from a lovely lady – Gayle Sorensen, who said she had a story to tell. Apparently four couples here in town ALL purchased the same four motor home make and model, and decided to go all the way back to the factory to pick them up!
It appears that they each did their own research, and realized they had each settled on buying a 35ft. Thor ‘Aria’ model, Class A Motor home. So they thought, hm….how about if we all took a road trip back to the Thor factory in Elkhart, Indiana to pick them up together? So they put in their orders and did exactly that!
Now mind you, this is in January of this year. As in the January-right-after-that-polar-vortex-January. Not that winter in the mid-west is ever a cake walk, but undoubtedly this year it was an extra special treat! One couple flew, and the other three drove, and when they arrived at the factory they received a royal tour and even got to meet the President of the company!
And then the real adventure began as they started to make their way home. Two of the couples took their time visiting with other friends and family down south. But Gayle and her husband Mike decided to make the trek directly home. Now mind you, Mike had never driven such a large vehicle before – so he got a crash course as storms chased them all the way back to Boulder City! But they made it and all was well.
The couples are as follows: Mike and Gayle Sorensen, Ty and Mary Ballard, Pari and Dan Blackman, and Al and Linda Dollar.
At the time I met with Gayle to chat with her she said their dining room table was full of maps for them to plan their next adventure. Currently they tell me all four couples are planning a trip together. Here’s wishing them a fantastic summer ahead, and many more great road trips in their future. Thanks for sharing with us!
