There once was a time when all of Nevada was 702, but that changed when Northern Nevada was given a 775 code and Southern Nevada retained our 702 digits.
But estimates are that we’ll run out of 702 numbers in just over a year, so beginning June 1st, 2014 – new telephone customers in Southern Nevada will be assigned the new area code of 725.
Existing customers will retain their 702 numbers, so if you have been thinking about picking up an additional number here in Boulder City, you might want to do that in the coming year so you don’t have to juggle different area codes.
Oh and here is another thing…as of May 3rd, 2014 — we’ll all have to start dialing all 10-digits to call locally, since you and your next door neighbor might have different area codes. No need to dial the 1- first and there will be no extra charge on the calls…just more numbers to remember!
