The Angel Tree is once again erected at the Boulder Dam Credit Union and although I think it would be AWESOME if there was no need for one, I just love going to visit the tree.
As of today you still have about two weeks left to shop – all donations must be received by Friday, December 9th – so if you’re interested in participating, be sure to stop by today! We must say, they had quite a stack of cards and wishes this year. You’ll see lots of choices that can make your shopping easy – some want bikes, others gift cards and other assorted items. You will see the wishes from both local children and elder folks, alike.
We all know the high costs of everything these days from groceries to gas – and these pressures hit those on fixed incomes or very tight budgets the worst. So please, give what you can.
Here’s something BDCU Manager Eric Estes wrote a couple of years ago about the Angel Tree and I couldn’t say it better myself:
“During the next several weeks, the Angel Tree will again make its appearance in the lobby of the Credit Union. And, as has happened every year before, the angels will come. They will be retired couples looking to help young families. They will be young families teaching their children the meaning of kindness and generosity. They will be school children surprised that there are other children who simply want a pair of jeans or a warm coat for Christmas. They will be passersby that didn’t intend to stop, but when they noticed an elderly couple on the tree in need of food and clothing, couldn’t resist the opportunity to be an angel.”
So stop by the credit union, pick out a tag that speaks to you and you can have a pair of wings of your own…
