Now that the training period for the new animal control officer has wrapped up, the animal shelter will revert back to its former schedule of being open 7 days a week from 7am – 3pm, effective today (January 7th, 2016).
In order to provide 7-day coverage for 8 hours a day, the two officers only work together one day a week (Wednesdays, btw) – so the shelter still has to be locked up when they get called out into the community. But there is a sign on the door explaining that they are out in the field and providing the phone number to dispatch, so visitors can call to have them contacted via radio and see how long they’ll be, etc.
On a separate, but related note, the Clark Country District Attorney is still investigating the case against former Animal Control Supervisor Mary Jo Frazier — so there’s no news to report on that yet, but it’s likely to come soon. The case that ultimately went to them from the Boulder City Police Department contained 37 felony counts, which is significantly more substantial than the initial case of a single felony and several misdemeanors, fyi.
