Oh 2020….it just doesn’t stop does it? However, we’re happy to see that the folks at the Boulder City Sunrise Rotary are reacting to the fact that we know a large gathering such as Wurst Festival just isn’t going to be possible this year, and have instead moved things online!
They are announcing that they will indeed have their annual ‘fun-raiser’ but this year it will be dubbed the ‘Wurst Festival Ever Online Auction!’.
We reached out to the Club President, Amy Carvalho, who says, “We realize we can’t have a live auction, street party, car show, and bratwurst and beer garden that the town has grown to love. So, instead, we are making the best of the circumstances and moving to a week-long, fun-filled online auction! From 9am on October 11 to 4pm on October 17, you can bid on cars, bikes, electronics, gift baskets, Wurst Festival merchandise, and many other items from the comfort of your own home.”
The web site isn’t live yet, but it will be soon, and the Club says to keep an eye on their Facebook Page for upcoming announcements and previews!
Past President, and event organizer Cyndy Anderson reminds us that, “Covid-19 has affected and touched the lives of every community throughout our state, as well as our world. However, the commitment of the Boulder City Sunrise Rotary to the Boulder City community has not wavered. This pandemic has certainly not been powerful enough to shake the foundation on which Rotary stands. We know that we owe the success of our Wurst Festival to our community members and all of the folks who attend and support our event. And we thank them from our hearts. They enable us to do the work that we love to do.”
Wurst Festival has always been known as the key fundraiser for the Sunrise Rotary Club, and their signature event which has been the All-Night Alcohol and Drug Free Grad Night Party for the Boulder City High School Seniors. This year, of course they did things a little different, as we told you about HERE.
But one would think that the needs will be the same this year for the Class of 2021. Plus, if you don’t realize it, this Rotary as well as the other club in town help out a lot of our other non-profits, and Sunrise Rotary also helps Emergency Aid, the Senior Center, Lend A Hand, the Boulder City Drug Court, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, and others.
So keep your eyes and ears peeled for upcoming news and information on this year’s event, and let’s all look forward to supporting this great local cause in October!
