Bass Angler Supply Shop Lures Anglers

Boulder City FINALLY has its own shop for locals and visitors who enjoy fishing at local lakes! Bass Angler Supply Shop (formerly the home of Woodchuck’s) is located at 1504 Boulder City Parkway and its owner, Rob Sanford, is the man to go to for all your fishing needs.

First of all, Bass Angler Supply Shop is the only location in our town where you can purchase the required Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) license for fishing (anyone 12 or older must have their own license). That’s important, of course. But even more importantly, Bass is where you go to get local information about the fishing conditions to improve your chances of catching fish. Rob, an avid fisherman himself, has been fishing Lake Mead since the 1970s with his father and grandfather. He attended Chaparral High School and UNLV, and lived in Southern California where he owned another shop, before returning to the Clark County area and settling in Boulder City. Rob is married to Whitney, a fourth grade teacher, and they have four grown children.

Rob is very familiar with both saltwater and freshwater fishing. Of course, locals will mainly be looking for information about fishing at Lakes Mead and Mohave, as well as Willow Beach and Veterans Memorial Park. For those new to the sport, Rob’s store will be offering Lake Mead fishing classes beginning in October on Thursday nights.

Speaking of sport, fishing is one of he most participated sports in the United States. In fact, in 2020, more than 35 million people in the United States participated in fishing, the highest participation number in a decade. Many of us have fond memories of fishing with our parents and grandparents, which is one of the wonderful aspects of the sport: its appeal to generations of anglers. That intergenerational aspect of the sport is exceeded only by the fact it is attractive to girls and boys, women and men. Anyone can fish! Spending time outdoors, enjoying the beauty of the local lakes, are adventures every family member will remember.

Having the proper permits and equipment are important, of course, and you’ll find both at Bass Angler Supply Shop, but what sets the store apart is the local knowledge you get from Rob about where, how, and when to cast your line into the water. Rob has the information you need to be successful in catching fish. We all know that catching fish is more fun than not catching fish! If you have never been fishing, tips from Rob will be invaluable to you.

Bass Angler Supply Shop stocks rods, reels, lures plus many things that the other big box stores don’t carry, which is another advantage. Most of the “advice” you’d receive from a big box store employee is not applicable to Lake Mead, which can lead to frustration when the elusive prey aren’t captured. On the contrary, Bass only sells equipment and supplies that work at local lakes.

Rob plans to add fishing boat repairs and guided fishing tours in the future.

You will find Bass Angler Supply Shop open Tuesday to Friday from 8:00AM to 6:00PM and Saturday from 8:00AM to 2:00PM. The store is closed Sunday and Monday. You can reach Rob via email HERE. You can find them on Facebook HERE and Instagram HERE.

We are happy to have Rob join our business community, and sharing his vast knowledge of fishing. Be safe out on the lakes and good luck to all the anglers out there!
