BBB Bakery Rises to the Occasion in Red Mountain Plaza
BBB Bakery opened in Red Mountain Plaza recently, but this isn't the owner's first foray into baking up a business. We spoke with Keagan Jacobs recently about his latest venture, here in Boulder City. First of all, he loves the Boulder City community and wanted to give it something new and different. His is a traditional bakery with a couple of surprises that customers should find interesting. The location, 1629 Boulder City Parkway, is easy to get to and offers a lot of visibility to residents of the city, and visitors alike. The BBB in BBB Bakery stands for "Best Banana Bread" and that is where the story begins.
Keagan was working a regular, corporate security job in 2019 when he started a cottage business selling his banana bread. Then COVID-19 hit and everyone was buying things online! In addition to his regular job, he and his workers would take a day off and bake banana bread from 6:00PM to 6:00AM in a shared kitchen, and then they'd package and ship the banana bread all over the United States. He didn't have a targeted marketing plan; most of his customers were organically cultivated from word of mouth. Once COVID-19 subsided somewhat, he decided to look for a property that would accommodate his plan to open a brick and mortar location. One thing led to another, and he found himself in beautiful Boulder City.
This elevated bakery concept brings you some of the traditional items most look for in a bakery, including:
- the banana bread that started it all
- sourdough bread in a variety of flavors, including jalapeňo cheddar
- laminated pastries
- cinnamon rolls
- macarons
- cookies of all flavors including peanut butter, chocolate chip, and sugar
- and other surprises and seasonal choices
They also serve matcha, specialty coffee, and soft drinks to go with their delicious baked goods.
Two other things stand out in this establishment. The first is the cold case as you walk in the door, on your left. It is filled with a variety of authentic Italian goods like pastas (fettuccini, pappardelle, rigatoni, spaghetti) made in-house along with companion sauces (alfredo, bolognese, lemon butter, pomodoro). These easily make a meal for a family for less than $30. You can even add grilled chicken to any of the pastas for just $3.99. The pasta is crafted from imported Italian flour and the sauce recipes have been perfected through rigorous testing with experts.
The second, and rather surprising thing, is the meat! Keagan grew up in Kansas City, MO, home to some of the nation's best barbecue so meat is a passion of his. You can come to the bakery and have a steak cut especially for you! We don't think there are many other bakeries in the world that offer this service!
You can also enjoy several types of hot and cold sandwiches in the cozy dining area or take them to go. There are two large salads offered: a house salad and a Caesar salad for only $11.99. Grilled chicken can be added to either for $3.99. The soup of the day rotates around seasonal themes so make sure you ask each time you visit.
The store's current hours are Monday thru Saturday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. On August 17, fall hours begin and the store will be open seven days a week from 7:00AM to 5:00PM, including their soon-to-be-open drive up and go service! You can find them on Instagram HERE, Facebook HERE, and their website (currently under construction) HERE. Call ahead at (702) 281-9850.
