Now this is a motley crew, if I ever saw one! Boulder City Little League just completed their two day Christmas camp where they had nearly 40 “campers” (both boys and girls) in attendance to work on their baseball fundamentals — hitting, throwing, fielding, etc.
Boulder City Social Fan Cheryl Herr asked me to provide all you’d ever want to know about participating in or sponsoring Boulder City Little League — so below is a plethora of information for you, courtesy of Cheryl!
The 2012 season will be Boulder City Little League’s 22nd year and it will kick off with tryouts on Saturday, February 4th. Signups are scheduled for Thursday, January 12th from 5pm – 7pm and Saturday, January 21st from 11am – 2pm at the ABC Park Gym. The cost is $75 for Rookies (ages 5-8) and Minors (ages 9-10) and $90 for Majors (ages 11-12) and Juniors (ages 13-14). Players need to bring their birth certificate and three proofs of residency.
Players are evaluated by coaches during tryout day (Feb. 4th), after which they are drafted onto teams to play the regular season (which runs March – May). The teams play each other within their divisions as well as teams from Henderson Little League, Sunrise Mountain Little League, and Paradise Valley Little League. Teams usually play two to three games per week down at Veteran’s Field.
In June, the BCLL All Star teams are announced for the Minors, Majors, and Juniors Divisions. Each All Star team plays in the all-star tournament which includes 11 other teams in the division. So, instead of a regional title, the winner of this tournament is the winner of the division.
Boulder City Little League is in need of sponsors! If you own a business and would like to sponsor a team, there is a signup form on their website: www.bouldercitylittleleague.com or you can contact the BCLL President (Shannan Wrightsman @ 917-1011) or the Treasurer (Lori Giunta @702-373-5338). There are various levels of sponsorship – full team for $500, shared team $250, or they accept donations of any size. If a business sponsors a full team, then the sponsor’s name is on each player’s uniform. If they share a team, then half the players will have one business, and the other half will have the other sponsor’s name on their uniforms.
If you are a baseball fan, definitely consider participating or supporting BC Little League, Folks!
