Host Roger Gros sits down with the owner of Boulder City Family Mortuary owner Tyson Smith. Take a listen to Tyson as he explains some of the history of his business in town as well as some history of Boulder City in general and the types of funeral and mortuary services that have been offered over time, as well as their locations. Take a listen HERE.
This has become a hot-button topic recently as over the past several years Mr. Smith has asked the city to amend some of its zoning ordinances around Boulder City. He says his business is in desperate need of a larger location to operate from and he’d like to stay in town. However, many residents in Boulder City have expresses concerns about those requested zoning changes. Regardless of where you stand on things, this podcast is well worth your time!
NOTE: on next Tuesday, November 9th, the City Council will receive an Introduction to the proposed bill that could amend the City Code for both R1 and C1 zones to allow for a ‘Conditional Use’ permit to allow funeral homes/mortuaries to potentially be granted use within those zones. If the City Council agrees to actually discuss the matter, then the actual discussion and hearing on that process, we are told, will take place on November 23rd. If the City Council refuses to discuss the matter (which as we understand it, they could) then the matter will die there.
