The Angel Tree will be up at the Boulder Dam Credit Union beginning this Monday, November 23rd, although with some adjustments this year, of course.
The program which benefits Emergency Aid will be set up outside (with heaters) where you can sign up to help out a child or adult. We spoke to Pat Benke at Emergency Aid, and she tells us what will be a bit different. First, they are highly encouraging gift cards above all else. They will also be limiting the number of children’s gifts to 2 apiece. And…it just so happens that the Boulder Dam Credit Union sells those Visa/MC gift cards without the fee. So what could be more convenient!
“The need has never been greater”, Pat tells us. But participating in this annual tradition is something not to miss, if you can – give. It’s simply one of the most rewarding experiences you can give to someone, and yourself, this Holiday.
Don’t delay too long – all donations must be received by Friday, December 11th – so if you’re interested in participating, be sure to stop by soon!
Here’s something BDCU President and CEO, Eric Estes wrote a couple of years ago about the Angel Tree and I couldn’t say it better myself:
“During the next week, the Angel Tree will again make its appearance in the lobby of the Credit Union. And, as has happened every year before, the angels will come. They will be retired couples looking to help young families. They will be young families teaching their children the meaning of kindness and generosity. They will be school children surprised that there are other children who simply want a pair of jeans or a warm coat for Christmas. They will be passersby that didn’t intend to stop, but when they noticed an elderly couple on the tree in need of food and clothing, couldn’t resist the opportunity to be an angel.”
Stop by the Credit Union, and help out a local in need.
