It was unfortunate for Spring Jam, but lucky for the rest of us that we enjoyed some much needed rain starting on Sunday. While out for a walk, our friend Peter Starkweather captured this lovely photo of a flowering beauty enjoying it’s time in the dew drops after.
BUT WAIT! This lovely flower is also EXTREMELY POISONOUS!
Sacred Datura, also known as Jimsonweed or Thorn Apples (due to their spiky seed pods) are seriously poisonous with extracts that are psychoactive, often producing hallucinations — hence their designation as “sacred” by several Native American cultures. Peter tells us, NO ONE should eat them, including your pets. So be aware out there, you never know what we find even in town.
