Best Dam Barber Shop, located at 1636 Boulder City Parkway in the same plaza as Chilly Jilly’z (but more about that later!), is ready and open for business. Shay Bernardi is the proprietor and master barber who owns the shop and she’s got a lot of experience as a barber and a businesswoman.
For twenty years, she owned and operated Shay’s Barber Shop, a 12-chair shop in Fort Launderdale, FL. Interesting to note, she was also a military barber for the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, as well as the New York and California Maritime Academies, where she served as the ship’s barber. In addition to these ventures, she most recently worked with her niece, Judi, at Judi’s Barber Shop in Weysmouth, MA.
Speaking of family,Shay is the aunt to Jill Bunch, owner of Chilly Jilly’z. Her sister, Denise Quatrale, operates the Mom’s Dogs, a hot dog stand across the street in the Red Mountain Plaza. That makes Shay the third member of her family to open a business in Boulder City! She’s also believed to be the only female master barber in the city.
Moving to Nevada about eighteen months ago, she had plans of continuing her barbering career. However, due to the COVID pandemic, finding a job with an existing shop provided difficult. She decided to open her own place instead. The shop is very beautiful, and clean, with a roomy waiting area containing a nice soft rug, and comfortable chairs. The decor in the shop is very appealing too. Plus her magazines for those who may be waiting are current! 😃
While building her local clientele, Shay accepts walk-in business, as well as appointments. The store is open the following days and times:
- MONDAY from 9:00AM to 5:00PM
- TUESDAY from 9:00AM to 4:00PM
- WEDNESDAY shop is closed
- THURSDAY from 9:00AM to 5:00PM
- FRIDAY from 9:00AM to 5:00PM
- SATURDAY from 9:00AM to 2:00PM
- SUNDAY shop is closed
According to Shay, “I’m really excited to open here in Boulder City. Come by and see the new shop. I had fun designing the space and I think it will provide a relaxing atmosphere.” Shay takes clients from children, up to seasoned citizens, and she welcomes walk-ins. If you’d like to make an appointment, she can schedule those as well. Just call (702) 600-3916 to set a time.
We welcome Shay to our community and wish her all the best going forward. Men, make sure you stop in and see her for your next cut. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed! You can find her on Facebook HERE.
