Looks like there was some “sheep shootin'” going on at Hemenway Park this last week.
Fear not — it was the Nevada Department of Wildlife using tranquilizers to capture and relocate some of our sheep to other parts of Nevada as part of the Bighorn Sheep Release Program (from way back in 1967).
Seems the sheep are addicted to the grass in Hemenway Park, so our thriving population is helping to get herds in other areas back on their feet. Cool.
I found an interesting video about it on the Las Vegas Review Journal’s website for ya…but before we do that – a big thanks to Pandora Ahlstrom for sending in this awesome photo that she took in Hemenway Park!
