The Boulder City Bears Cheerleaders may be small, but they are mighty! This program is also young; this is their first year and it began in August at the conclusion of the cheer camp offered by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. Sarah Kliman, the organization’s volunteer cheer director tells us that the girls are busy practicing their cheers and stunts, as well as working on their conditioning and tumbling.
It is a competitive youth cheerleading organization for kids. The group is a 501(C)(3) non-profit made up of all volunteers from the Boulder City community. The youth cheer program is designed to teach the fundamentals of cheerleading, citizenship, respect and discipline so the kids are ready to cheer on the middle and high school cheer squads at EM Garrett Junior High and Boulder City High School.
There are 24 cheerleaders, in grades kindergarten to fifth grade. The 2024 squad includes the following members:
Aidelany B | Catherine K | Presley S |
Avery M | Faith P | Raegan S |
Blanca R | Felicity C | Rowan T |
Braelynn O | Hailey P | Rylee H |
Brianna B | Irelynn P | Savannah S |
Brinley W | Isobella M | Sophia R |
Brooklyn S | Jazie D | Stella M |
Carissa W | Jordyn F |
Stella R |
The squad is currently raising funds for team uniforms. They are also planning to participate in a number of competitions in Las Vegas, as well as a big trip to Knotts Berry Farm. The California trip will allow them to compete along with the cheer squads from Boulder City High School and EM Garrett Junior High.
We asked the young members why they like cheerleading. Braelynn O said, “My mom likes me doing cheer and my cousin Britt was a Vegas Golden Knights cheerleader. Aidelany B replied that she enjoys, “Cheering for our team.” Many of the squad members also have brothers or sisters playing football for the Boulder City Bears. You can watch them perform on October 5 at Boulder City High School, when the Bears host a home game.
The young ladies are supported and instructed by the following community members:
- Sarah Kliman, Boulder City Bears cheer director
- Abby Cracolici, senior at Boulder City High School and captain of varsity cheer
- Kira Gardner, Boulder City High School senior
- Qloiana Skousen, Boulder City High School freshman
- Braylie Kasold, Boulder City High School sophomore
- Sadie Hensala, Boulder City High School sophomore
- Abby Rodriguez, University of Las Vegas freshman
- Jena Ritchie, parent of Boulder City Bears football player and former cheerleader
To help them raise funds for uniforms, they will be having a lemonade stand at Boulder Outlet, located at 806 Buchanan Boulevard, Suite 101. The date has not been determined, but you can follow them on social media HERE. You can also write checks payable to Boulder City Bears Cheer and send them to the address on the sponsorship form HERE. They also accept donations to their Venmo account @bcbearscheer.
