Travel Nevada has selected Boulder City to be one of six proposed projects as part of its new Destination Development Demonstration Program. Through that, the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce will receive help from special expert consulting services (valued at $240,000) to help them create 10-year plans to “develop their appeal to visitors and expand their economies through tourism”. Each of the six projects will be completed in two phases and also qualify to receive up to $2 million to help fund the plans they have created.
For Boulder City, their plans are to be created between September 2023 and April 2024, so they have some time before they get started. According to the press release:
Boulder City: The city will position itself as a hub for visitors of all ages and abilities, especially visitors from Las Vegas, to connect with outdoor adventure opportunities throughout the region.
We spoke to Jill Lagan, CEO of the Boulder City Chamber and she tells us, “What a compliment to the current efforts and marvelous assets here in Boulder City by being selected by Travel Nevada as one of the first six communities to have the benefit of a professional consulting team to guide the stakeholders of our city into a 10-year marketing and development strategy. This will widely leverage the taxpayer dollars dedicated to marketing rural Nevada to potential guests and send more qualified tourism throughout the entire state. When we are dressed up and ready for the dance, then spend dollars to invite guests to the dance, and finally reap the rewards of providing those guests with a quality experience, we have truly provided a return on the investment of the taxpayer.”
Thanks so much for your efforts Jill on behalf of all of our businesses who benefit so much from our adventure tourism! Congratulations!
