This is exciting and fun news to share! The Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum has recently migrated to a new cloud-based software program which will allow them to upload various photographs, files, and artifacts. Due to COVID-19, the process has taken off slowly, but as soon as volunteers are permitted to return, the Museum plans to have them work on this project to get all their historical documentation uploaded and available for researchers and those who just want to browse thru the collections! We are thrilled to see the project come online and are looking forward to seeing more awesome information posted for everyone to check out.
You can see some of the work already completed by clicking here to access the hub. There are several different categories that will transport you back to the earliest origins of the city. See the first elementary school built in Boulder City (hint: you might recognize this building as the seat of city government now!). Find the now-historic homes and streetscapes of some of the original townsite. Check out the advertisements for Boulder Bakery and the Browder’s Lunch and Root Beer Store. We saw an advertisement for a Chicken Fried Steak Dinner for $0.85!!! What a bargain! There are so many fun and interesting things to find in the archives!!
We can’t wait until the collections are all online. The museum is currently open for visits every day, from 7:00AM to 7:00PM, every day and it’s FREE!!! The Museum is located inside the historic Boulder Dam Hotel at 1305 Arizona Street. You can visit their website anytime, by clicking here. You can also sign up for their quarterly newsletter and find out about donating items, supporting the museum financially or volunteering your time by going to the website.
