Remember last month when there was a “Blueprint Signing Ceremony” at Boulder City Hospital for the new expansion plans? Well, I asked the hospital if they would share a copy of the blueprint and a little bit of info about it for ya…and they sent it on over.
Click on the green button over to the right to pull up a larger PDF version of the expansion plans…but know that this was the version from last month and as is the case with all big projects…it will surely undergo many revisions before things wrap up.
Here is a little bit more info from a fact sheet that came with the plans:
“The Boulder City Hospital’s future business activities call for an aggressive, focused, and sustainable set of programs and activities in pursuit of an “age in place” business model. As a Critical Access Hospital, Boulder City Hospital provides high-quality, personalized care to all residents in the community, yet it is the only rural hospital in Nevada that is not supported by corporate or tax dollars.
Working with Building Hope Nevada, Boulder City Hospital applied to United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for a Community Facility Loan to finance a modernization and expansion program. Having received loan approval, the Hospital will build and/or renovate approximately 36,000 square feet of space to house a variety of medical program areas and to relieve stress on the current facility. This new facility will be contiguous to the current facility on the Hospital’s ten-acre campus in Boulder City.
Planning and design has already begun with ground breaking expected in late April. Surgical services are anticipated to open in the fourth quarter of this year. The inpatient Gero-psych and acute Rehab programs are expected to open January 1, 2014 and the expanded ER and the remainder of the remodel to be completed third quarter 2014.”
