While we can hardly believe it’s almost April, things are springing up at our local library. In addition to their regular monthly programming, they’ve added some fun events for the community as well. Here are the things you can look forward to in April:

Special Events:

  • April 4 thru 6, 2025: Big Basement Book Sale! The Friends of the Boulder City Library are hosting a big book sale in the library’s basement the first weekend in April. Make sure you stop by and get some new books for your own library. It takes place 10:00AM to 4:00PM each day. Park on the east side of the library for access.
  • April 5, 2025: Literary Arts Fair! Come join authors, illustrators, and poets at the literary fair from 1:00PM to 5:00PM in the Community Room.

Ages 0-5 Programs located in Board Room
Storytimes during the month of April will be paused due to Summer Reading Program planning. Storytimes will return in May!

Ages 6-11 Programs located in Community Room
Youth programs during the month of April will be paused due to Summer Reading Program planning. Youth programs will return in May!

Ages 12-18 Programs
Tuesdays at 3:00PM: Roleplayers’ Guild, Ages 12-18. Go on a quest, fight dragons, and loot the villages! Nevada Room
School Days at 2:00PM: Teen Time – Coloring, puzzles, board games, or crafts while you hang out with your friends. Teen Area.

Family Events
Sunday, April 6 at 1:00PM: Flashback to 1995 Movie- Man of the House: Join us for an afternoon showing of  “Man of the House” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release. All Ages. Community Room.
Saturday, April 12 at 12:00PM: Silver State Lampworking Discussion and Egg Hunt: Join local artist Shane Apsey for a discussion on the art of Lampworking. Egg hunt and refreshments to follow. Eggs will be hidden with candy or a chance to take home a glass egg designed by Shane. Seven, the puppy will also be in attendance. All Ages. Outdoor Amphitheater.
Sunday, April 13 at 2:00PM: Bunny Origami: Spring into the season by creating cute origami bunnies! Ages 10 and Up. No materials or experience needed. Community Room. Sign-Ups Required.

Ages 18+ Programs in Community Room, except where noted
Tuesdays at 2:30PM:
Crochet for A Cause: Board Room.
Fridays at 1:00PM: Easy Does It Yoga: Ages 18+. Community Room. *NO Yoga held on 04/04, class will resume on 04/11*
Tuesday, April 1 at 6:00PM: Tarot Outside the Box: Tarot games, activities, and practice reading sessions. All skill levels are welcome. Bring your tarot deck or use one of ours! Ages 18+. Combined Community & Board Room.
Tuesdays, 04/08 & 04/22 at 10:00AM: Cut-Ups Quilting: Community Room.
Tuesday, April 8 at 5:00PM: Flashback to 1995 Movie: Come join us for a cult classic! Ages 13+. Community Room.
Wednesday, April 9 at 11:30AM: Becca’s Book Club: Ages 18+. Community Room.
Sunday, April 13 at 2:00PM: Fiber Arts Club: Learn from others and work on your projects with friends. Ages 16+. Nevada Room.
Tuesday, April 15 at 6:00PM: Come Write In- Creative Writing: Creative writing prompts and activities to generate new writing. All skill levels welcome. Board Room.
Wednesday, April 16 at 6:00PM: Library Board of Trustees Meeting: Board Room.
Thursday, April 17 at 6:00PM: Crochet Skills Class- Stitch TBD: This monthly class Teaches a new stitch. Some crochet knowledge preferred. Class runs 6:00PM to 7:30PM. Community Room. Sign-Ups Required.
Saturday, April 19 at 1:00PM: Mixed Media Art: Ages 18+. Board room. Sign-Ups Required. 
Saturday, April 19 at 2:00PM: How Not to Burn Toast- Cooking Japanese: Learn some Japanese recipes beyond ramen and sushi. Community room.
Saturday, April 26 11:00AM: Ancestry Club: Learn from others as you research your family history. All Ages. Community Room.
Saturday, April 26 1:00PM: Music Appreciation: Learn about different musical styles and their history. Ages 13+. Community Room.
Sunday, April 27 at 2:00PM: Karaoke Singing in the Stacks: From Country to Christmas, Metal to Musicals, Rock to Rap, Opera to Oldies, join us and sing your favorite songs. Beginners are Welcome! No registration required. Ages 18+. Combined Community & Board Room.
Tuesday, April 29 at 1:00PM: Friends of the Library Meeting: Learn more about the Friends of the Library and what they do at this quarterly meeting. Community Room.
Wednesday, April 30 at 6:00PM: Plant Cutting Exchange with Iron Rose Plants & Vintage: Bring a cutting, take a cutting at this program with Iron Rose Plants & Vintage! Community Room.

Tech Teachers
Tech Teacher Appointments are available! To sign-up for a one-on-one time, please visit the information desk or call the library desk at (702) 293-1281. Tech Teachers are available on Tuesdays at 1:00PM and 2:00PM, Wednesdays 12:00PM and 1:00PM, and Thursdays at  12:00PM and 1:00PM.

Open Makerspace Time
Wednesdays 2:00PM to 4:00PM: Open Maker Time: Must be certified on the machines you intend to use. Makerspace.
Thursdays 12:00PM to 2:00PM: Open Maker Time: Must be certified on the machines you intend to use. Makerspace.

Sunday, April 6 at 11:00AM: Cricut Certification Class: Makerspace.
Monday, April 7 at 3:30PM: Button Maker & Die Cut Certification Class: Makerspace.
Tuesday, April 8 at 3:30PM: Laser Engraver Certification Class: Makerspace.

Please note the Library will be closed Sunday, April 20 for the Easter Sunday holiday The Library is located at 701 Adams Boulevard. it is open Monday thru Thursday from 10:00AM to 8:00PM and Friday thru Sunday 10:00AM to 5:00PM.
