Parks and Rec sent over some really cool info to me last month and I’ve been lax in pushing it out to ya’ll. But check this out: the Boulder City Pool and Racquetball Complex will offer the first Aquaclimb rock wall in Southern Nevada!
Here is a copy and paste directly from the info sheet that Parks & Rec sent me…it’s got a lot of great details:
“This summer, 2013, the Boulder City Pool will add a splash of fun to the dive tank. After losing its 3m dive board last summer due to national concerns regarding liability and insurance, followed by a request from the City insurance carrier for removal of the 3m board, the Boulder City Pool needed to add something to keep its users, especially the youth and young adults, engaged, and entertained.
The solution: the aqua rock wall. Two climbing walls will rise out of the water, allowing for approx. 16.5’ each, of vertical climbing, allowing participants to climb to the top, and then jump off feet first. The overhang walls lean out over the water, so people of all ages can “rock climb” in a safe environment. A fall means an easy drop into the cool waters of the dive tank.
Unlike a traditional land rock wall, there is no safety ropes, repelling harnesses or carabineers needed to scale the 16.5’ inverted wall. This is one of the latest crazes in the water aquatics industry, and the Boulder City pool has one!
The Boulder City Pool and Racquetball Complex, located at 861 Avenue B, offers year ‘round healthy, affordable, enriching, and supervised programs. The 25 meter lap/recreational pool, enclosed by an air support structure September–May, and outdoor June-August, feature various classes, and open swim schedules. For the summer, the dive tank and wading pools also operate daily during open swim and family hours.
Part of the facility’s stated mission is “to provide high quality and cost effective recreation programs and activities for all residents”. Programs include and are not limited to: Parent and Baby, Youth Learn to Swim, BCH Youth Swim Team, Adult Masters Program, Water Exercise, Lap Swim, Open Swim and more! Fees are reasonable with daily, reduced, seasonal, annual, and punch pass rates.
For a great cardio workout, racquetball, wallyball, and badminton courts are available during office and pool hours, as well as Dryland Training. There are three total courts available. Two of the courts have a glass window, creating a nice viewing area outside these courts. The third court is concealed for private play. Reservations encouraged, and walk-ins accepted.
