Building Of Hoover Dam Began On This Day In 1930

Hoover Dam Sign near Boulder City, NevadaOn this day (July 7th) in 1930, construction of the Hoover Dam officially began! Over the next five years, 21K dam workers would pour more than 5,000,000 barrels of concrete to produce what would be the largest dam of its time. And today, Hoover Dam is the second highest dam in the country and the 18th highest in the world.
