We’ve confirmed what we’ve heard for a few weeks now, that both the Burger King and the GNC Vitamin store (located in the Albertson’s parking lot) will be leaving Boulder City.
UPDATE: After doing some additional research, it looks as though GNC has been in trouble for a while, and during 2018 has closed approximately 200 stores. We have articles HERE and HERE relating this information over time. So this local closure appears to have little to do with our local economy, and has everything to do with a pending national reorganization for this chain struggling to survive.
For Burger King, we’re told that the doors will close January 1st, 2019. However there is no firm date yet for GNC, who have their stock on clearance right now, and will move what remains at closure to other locations they have in the Las Vegas valley.
The opening of Interstate 11 has had an impact on Burger King, although there may be other factors as well. Exactly what has prompted GNC to close it’s doors is unknown, although slow sales would generally be the assumption in this case. But it’s certainly not related to I-11, one figures.
What will move into these locations remains to be seen. The last we spoke to our sources there was no firm word, but they were optimistic for other businesses coming in soon. We’ll keep you posted!
